Within the theoretical framework of “4E” cognition, this article proposes the performing arts as an exemplary context for analyzing the intersubjective constitution of perceptual processes.
To this end, it draws on Infinity Pool, a philosophical-artistic project by the collective Future Monsters that integrates participatory performance, video installation, reflective masks, and phenomenological interviews. Through a free reinterpretation of the fifth-century BCE Greek tragic mask, the project investigates seeing not as an isolated event, but as a process that takes shape “through” and “with” others. Infinity Pool thus emerges as a prototype for studying perception beyond the limits of methodological individualism.
