This study aims to identify the most relaxing literary genre according to public readers by utilizing a social reading analysis methodology. Readers’ reviews of various literary genres from the Goodreads social network are analyzed to determine the frequency of relaxation-related terms employed by users. The findings indicate that classics stand out in terms of their positive relaxing power. The article concludes with a discussion on recent critical perspectives regarding traditional approaches to literary studies and emphasizes the importance of recognizing the productive effects that reading and reading classics can have on the general reading public.
