The contemporary context is strongly marked by the growing development of the creative potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The ability of AIs to generate literary texts and images has evolved exponentially to the point that it challenges human capabilities and makes it increasingly difficult to distinguish what is produced by AI from what is produced by a human. With AI systems entering the domain of art, it has become necessary to understand and recognise what is and what can be the actual contribution of nonhuman actors to the process of artistic production, and more broadly to the evolution of research in art and aesthetics. The extraordinary technical skills acquired by AI systems indeed contribute to the creation of artworks at the level of their formal realization. However, the artwork is the result of a structured aesthetic operation, which moves from specific aesthetic principles and remains, to date, still human in nature.
